More boredom
Here's a follow-up to yesterday's post. I was mostly right with this week's American Idol. The red hair girl and the dude from Wicked did make it to the top 12. The dual personality guy, did not, but I could see him be a wild card. The other guy that made it through..um... I didn't hear his whole song the other night. I thought he was brave to pick a Michael Jackson song. I thought he sang it better than MJ, but as if that needs a comment. So...I'm doing pretty good with guessing who will make it through. We'll see how next week goes. Other than that...not feeling great. Maybe life will improve soon! hee hee!

American Idol
So no one's blogging today and I'm bored. So bored, that I'm actually going to blog about American Idol. I used to love this show. Now, it's something I watch if nothing else exciting is on. The only quasi-interesting thing about the audition shows was David Osmond. He's too good for American Idol, so I'm glad he didn't get past Hollywood. He's just not AI material. I love his voice. I've been listening to him sing since the first time we saw "the Osmond Boys" at Mormon Night at Disneyland back in 1987? Anyway....the audition shows were mostly boring. That Tatiana chick is scarey. I'm glad she didn't go through last week. I figure they'll pull her back for the wild card show. I do like the Danny guy that made it through last week. I didn't even know his sad story. My niece had to tell me. I heard him sing, "I Hope You Dance" during the Hollywood weeks and was impressed. More impressed now that I know more of his story. Last nights show was horrid. Some of these people...I don't know how they got to this point! The red hair girl. Interesting voice. She sang, "Alone" okay. It wasn't quite the Carrie Underwood version, but it was probably the best of the night. The girl from Sandy, UT with the sleeve of ink. Very interesting voice! She could make it through. The split personality guy should go through just for entertainment alone. He should actually be # 13! Let him sing every week just for fun! Holy Cow. He's hilarious. The last singer of the night. He caught my eye Hollywood week when they sang in groups. I know he was in the cast of Wicked here in L.A. too. Also an interesting voice. Any of those 4 would be good to go on to the top 12! Both last week and this week I'm just amazed at the weird song choices they've been making. If they have the entire Billboard chart to work with....HELLO!!! I figure if they've come this far, or how a lot of them say, they've been singing for years, they would know what style of music is the one they sing the best....and then choose accordingly! Anyway! Biggest Loser has been more entertaining in the last few weeks than AI! Maybe I'm just getting too old!

No Pictures
Our pictures from this week are in a camera in Orem, UT because we forgot our camera at home and April couldn't get her computer to work to dump our pictures! Go figure!
So here's a story without pictures! On Valentine's day, Eddie's Aunt Millie passed away. Uncle Earl had passed away 14 months earlier, so we thought it was a great day to be re-united! Aunt Millie was 90 years old. She was the sweetest thing. She's the first person in Eddie's family to make me feel welcomed! I think everyone else was still in shock or dis-belief or something! Anyway! Aunt Millie lived a great life of service. Her funeral was full of music. I really liked that. My favorite was the 10 year old great grand-daughter who sang, "O Divine Redeemer". She didn't miss a note. When she got up to sing I told Eddie this is a tough song for a little girl. He said to me, "This is a tough song for an old lady!" The woman playing the piano had to be in her 90's! It all went off without a hitch! It was fun getting to talk with Eddie's side of the family. We hadn't gone to the luncheon after Uncle Earl's funeral and several family members told us we had to come this time. I was very impressed by this ward's funeral lunch! NO FUNERAL POTATOES! And we were in Utah! It was a lovely lunch of Soup and Salads! It was simply, but beautifully decorated. It was all delicious! That's probably the best part of funerals....getting to catch up with family and friends you haven't seen in forever! After the funeral lunch, we decided to go to the Draper Temple Open House! It was just more tender mercies that we were able to go to Aunt Millie's funeral and have the open house going on while we were there was just the icing on the cake! The Draper Temple is beautiful! The floor to ceiling windows, the colors, the murals, the carvings on the baptismal font. The Brides room was my favorite!!! The chandelier, the sconces, the border, the ceiling, the carpet!!!! The drive up to the temple was crazy. The organization that is involved to get so many people to the temple was amazing. The size of the houses built around the temple are insane!!!
We're very excited because our great-niece Hannah is being baptized on July 11th... The Oquirrh Temple will be having it's open house then, so we'll get to tour another temple and then hopefully in the fall we'll be able to go to the 4 new temples in Utah and Idaho and finally add more temples to our temple hopping goals! If we do get to all 4...we will be at 31 temples!
Eddie and I have returned from Utah with colds I guess. Eddie's nose is running non stop and he's had chills and what not! My head felt like it might explode and now my throat is hurting. So, I guess it will be a take it easy kinda week! That's the latest from us!

Valentine's Day
We had a Ward Activity on Valentine's Day That's how many people were there at 6pm when it started!
It ended up being a great turnout! Tons of food. We just had appetizers and dessert. We played a humorous round of "The Newlywed Game". It was pretty funny.
My favorite questions: Is your husband more Gilligan's Island, Treasure Island or Three Mile Island. (Most were Gilligan's!!)

The TRIP!
My birthday trip was wonderful! Here is the ocean out of our hotel room in Pismo. As always it was relaxing and beyond enjoyable. Wish I could live there....in the hotel!
To add something new and different to the trip we only stayed in Pismo two days and then we went to Carmel-by-the-sea! It was okay! We should've stayed in Pismo for two more days!!! That up there is the delicious birthday dinner I had at Allegro's in Carmel. If you're ever there, it's in "The Barnyard" across Hwy 1 away from the heart of Carmel's shopping/eating district I guess you call it.
We stopped at one of my favorite places when traveling through the lovely California central area. Casa de Fruta! Delicious Fruit! Huge Cashews! Eddie loves their Cashews!!!!

San Antonio up there was our favorite I think.
Santa Cruz below...was our least favorite!
Why the missions? Since 3rd grade I've wanted to see all the missions and especially Carmel where Father Serra's burried. We did see that too! We still have 10 to see, but it's not as big a deal now that we've seen 11 in 5 days! If you have a child in 4th grade...take them on the mission tour. It's a fun trip! (I did the missions in 3rd grade because I was in a combined class 3rd & 4th!)Since we have returned Eddie and I both agree that temple hopping is much more fun and literally enlightening! So if you have the choice...go to the temple instead of a California Mission!
You live and learn!!!
Tomorrow on "Wordless Wednesday" I'll post more pictures!
