Eddie's Leaving Me!!!!

I'm devastated!
I can't believe this is happening.
Someone tell me it can't be true!

Psych!
He is leaving me, but only for a few days. He's going to go up to Heber and check on the cabin and what not. With the water pipe in the orchard being broken for so long, he's going to go up and clean up the cellar and the ...um...whatever they call that other building!

The riding lawn mower and a four wheeler are in here!
He's not leaving for a week or two, but it will be the longest we've ever been apart!
We were apart for two days last year when he was working in Hanford, CA.
We have cell phones so we'll survive!
Before we got together he managed to find
change and a payphone to call me from Heber,
so all is well I suppose!
Boo Hoo!

Memorial Day

All that we’ve been given by those who came before,
The dream of a nation where freedom would endure.
The work and prayers of centuries have brought us to this day.
What shall be our legacy, what will our children say?
Let them say of me, I was one who believed
In sharing the blessings I received.
Let me know in my heart when my days are through,
America, America, I gave my best to you.
Each generation from the plains to distant shores,
With the gifts they were given were determined to leave more.
Battles fought together, acts of conscience fought alone,
These are the seeds from which America has grown.
Let them say of me I was one who believed
In sharing the blessings I received.
Let me know in my heart when my days are through,
America, America, I gave my best to you.
For those who say they have nothing to share,
Who feel in their hearts there is no hero there,
Though each quiet act of dignity is that which fortifies,
The soul of a nation, that will never die.
Let them say of me that I was one who believed
In sharing the blessings I received.
Let me know in my heart when my days are through,
America, America, I gave my best to you.
America, America, I gave my best to you.
I love this song. I've only ever heard Denyce Grave's version. I just found out that Norah Jones has also recorded this. Now I'll have to hear her version. This is probably one of my most favorite patriotic songs of recent years. I first heard it at the National Day of Prayer service after 9-11. I've loved it ever since. I just thought today was a good day to hear it, sing it or at least read the lyrics.
Freedom isn't free! I'm so thankful for those who gave their lives for my freedom!

Pedicures!!!

Today is the magic day of the month when I get to pamper myself with a pedicure!!!
For the last several months I've been going to the nail place inside WalMart! Their prices are reasonable and they haven't hurt me yet, nor do they try to get me to do more than a pedicure! They know me as "the easy girl" because I don't complain! I guess everyone else complains!
Because our weather has been so weird, today cold, rainy and windy, there weren't a lot of people at the nail place so they took their time and did a great job. I always get my toes painted with Purple Passion. I should take a picture of them. Maybe next month. The only other color I've painted my toes was green. Elphaba green when we went to see Wicked! It felt weird in the temple with green toes, so I try and keep them with my normal purple, which is a deep pinkish, red, purple. The only other nail color I like is Purple ice! I used to get that color in Utah when I used to get fake nails. I think it's a similar color. My favorite part of the pedicure.....the massage chair!!!! The last 3 months I've had the same chair and it's divine!!!! The rolling, the pounding, the digging! It's heaven. The seat vibrates too and that is just the icing on the cake. I enjoy waiting for my nails to dry just cuz I get to stay in the massage chair!!! Least favorite part of the pedicure....removing the calouses from my feet! Why? Because they always tickle me and I can't stand the tickling and the dieing of laughter that comes with it! Other than that, I love the whole process!

2 years ago today....

Eddie was endowed with power from on high at the San Diego Temple.
Yes! He finally made it!
In the last two years he has done 88 endowment sessions, 26 sealing sessions, 70 initiatories and helped in the baptistry once and he may be helping there today too! So that would be twice!
I think that's pretty good for 2 years!
We've been blessed to help a sweet lady in our ward do her family names. She had about 700 names to do I think. A lot of people in the ward and stake have helped her.
Last Saturday we finished off the last of the stack of names she had. She's looking to see if she can find some more for us to do.
We feel like we've gained another family that will be waiting for us on the other side, because of the work we've done from them. There's another cool connection, the majority of these people were from Butler, PA. I served in Butler, PA twice on my mission. A coincidence? I don't think so! Just more of the Lord's tender mercies!

NKOTB

The Boys from Bean Town are back!!!
Alright Joey Joe, Jordan, Jonathan, danny and donnie are doing a concert on the Today show tomorrow! Check it out! So far there tour isn't coming anywhere near this side of the country, but I'm sure they'll make it this way eventually!
They're still hangin' tough! Oh I could go on and on with titles from their songs, but I won't!
Good, hilarious memories because of NKOTB! Lots of missionary humor!
I knew they'd do a reunion tour!
Another 10 - 15 years and all the boy bands will be touring together!
Just wait and see!

White Hair!

These are pictures of me last week. Do you like my white hair?
Yes, I stopped coloring it almost 2 years ago and this is the color it grows now! Yes, it probably makes me look old, but it's so much easier and my hair is happier! I've had lots of problems through the years coloring my hair, but vanity usually kept me doing it. I guess I'm not so vain now! HA! I think the last time I colored it was for our wedding. I might have done it once after that before our big honeymoon, but I haven't done it since. The girl who cuts my hair actually told me I should let it grow out and be natural. I guess she didn't want to make any more money! So...it's been hard at times with the roots at first and then it seemed like forever to get the last bit of color out. I still think I should probably have my hair trimmed so it would all be my normal color, but I haven't had my hair trimmed since sometime last year. I finally can get it all in a pony tail! That's probably not a good thing, cuz I tend to wear it like that most of the time around the house! I don't really mind the white! I guess my maternal great-grandma when completely white at a young age, (46 is young!) so maybe I got her genes! I really like it when I'm in the temple. Then I'm head to toe in white!!!! I only wish it didn't grow like the bride of Frankenstein stripes!!! I guess in time it will be white all over. Hopefully, I'll be like my Grandma Wanlass and still have dark hair at the nape of my neck. She still had a little bit when she was 90! The rest was snow white! I can only hope!

Candy!

My new favorite Hershey candy! Bliss! I love the Milk Chocolate the best! It's in a purple package too! It also comes in dark chocolate, melt away middle, and almond chips! I've tried all but the dark chocolate and the milk chocolate is the best. I didn't think the melt away middles melted away, like a truffle! Now that would be good!!! The almond one would be better with chunks of almonds and not just chips! I strongly suggest you should all try these delicious candies!

My second new favorite candy is M&Ms Mint Crisp! Yep, they remind me of Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies!!! They are delicious! Go try them!!! These are only supposed to be out for a limited time, but we'll see how well they sell!!!

That's my sweet tooth blog for the day!

Mandorallyn

Last night we went to dinner at Grandma Meservy's for Mother's day. The salads were delicious and the rolls divine!!!! Gma Meservy always makes homemade rolls!!!! Hot out of the oven!!!

Well our great niece Mandorallyn was there. Sometimes she's afraid of us and especially Eddie, but I guess she's used to us because she did really good! Well I have to share this posting from my niece Abigail's blog about Mandorallyn.

"When I put her to bed after we got home I thanked her for being such a good girl and dealing so well with everything. What did she say to that? Very seriously she stated "I saw Loud." I had to keep from busting up laughing, cause I knew exactly what she meant! She saw Eddie!! We always tell her, "it's okay, he's not scary, he's just loud." So Eddie, your name is now Loud."

I think it's hilarious!!! I shared the posting with Eddie. He was a wee bit dismayed! I told him hey! You were obviously the highlight of her day!!!!
Kids! Got to love 'em!!!!!!

Happy Mother's Day?

Well, if that just doesn't say it all!
Today is the day when we're supposed to celebrate Moms!
If people would just leave it at that...I'd be fine!
But people just can't leave it as a day to celebrate Moms!

In this world of everyone's a winner....and we can't leave anyone out....we have to make Mother's day... a day where we honor all women, because aren't all women mother's? Well, yes, according to Sheri Dew we are. I understand her point, but I don't believe that's what this day was created for.
So for all those who have now, or even those who have ever had Ovaries...

Celebrate!!! Today is your day!!!

Gardening

It's that time of year! Time to plant a garden.
I haven't attempted a garden since 2001, so this will be interesting.
Eddie doesn't like vegetables so he's really not excited about it, but he's been a real trooper!

This is a picture of us today...a self-portrait of course! This is after we finished in the garden for the day.

This is not the sunken Titanic! These are the watering "pipes" Tody and I put in the garden in 2001 to water the tomatoes! Eddie turned the soil for me. We haven't planted anything in this plot yet!

This is Eddie raking one of the plots for our garden. I admire him for doing the work, when he won't eat any of the rewards!!!

This is the first plot that he worked on. I sent him to the store to get some soil to add to our already pretty good soil. We have lots of worms. Eddie says that's good!

I was going to do square foot gardening, but I'm scared. I don't think a square foot is big enough for most vegies! So...we'll try it this way this year and maybe if we're successful, I'll be braver next year.

We've planted a crooked neck squash, a zuccini, a yellow pear tomato (my favorite!), a grape tomato, a roma tomato, and a big beefsteak tomato in the plot on the left. On the right we have purple bell pepper, sweet green pepper, cherry tomato, 5 empty spots, then we have sage, basil, curly parsley and cilantro. I have a bunch of seeds to plant, onions and peas and lettuce, and other stuff. We'll see what gets planted!

Saint George, UT

Still reeling from our busy weekend, I thought I would give a "shout-out" to some of our favorite places to stay, play and eat in St. George.
Of course Julie's is the best place to stay! No, that's not a hotel it's our dear friend, Julie Clegg. Eddie calls her our Maid of Honor/Best Man. We would not have made it through our wedding day without Julie!!! Our 2nd favorite place to stay is the Hilton Garden Inn. We love when we can splurge and get the Suite with the jacuzzi tub! It's the best room.
Probably our favorite!!!

Seven Wives Inn is also a great B&B! We stayed there for our honeymoon! The first two days of married life we stayed in the Melissa Suite. In the picture that would be above the front door and the entire 2nd floor to the right! It has a huge bedroom with fireplace and a sitting room and a small bathroom and a big jacuzzi tub room! (Yes, that's where Eddie set his hair on fire!)

This is me packing the day we left Melissa Suite on our 1st Honeymoon!

On our big honeymoon, 2 months later, we stayed in the Cottage at Seven Wives Inn!

It's a little house. It was very cute! Eddie kept calling it the toolshed!

They have great breakfasts and the staff is very friendly.

FOOD!
Our favorite place to eat...definately Samurai 21! DUH-LI-SCIOUS!!!
Samurai 21 on You Tube

Other favorite restaurants include: The Pizza Factory, Outback Steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse Grill, Ruby River, and so many more. For breakfast you have to go to Cracker Barrel. (It's right across the street from the Garden Inn so that's convenient. They're good for other meals of the day too.)

Eddie loves fried burritos at Taco Time and he likes the DogFather hot dogs! We also always frequent BR 31! Blue Bunny also has an ice cream parlor close to Julie's. Sonic is always handy too.

PLAY!
Favorite things to do in St. George? Go to the temple!

St. George Day Spa! Love their Massage, Facial, Pedicure package!

Driving through Snow Canyon to Pine Valley is always a good drive!

Pine Valley Chapel is a great tour! A ship builder built this chapel and you get to go all the way up into the attic and see how it is built like an upside down ship!! Very cool!

If you like musicals,Tuachan Ampitheater is the most beautiful ampitheater I've ever been to. The natural backdrops are gorgeous! If you're in town...go see a show!

In the Spring there's always an Arts Festival and new Sculptures pop up all over town!
St. George is becoming the Traffic Circle capital of the World! They have lots of them!

Zion National Park isn't that far away either! I could go on and on about St. George. I didn't even get to the great places to shop in St. George! Another blog for another day I guess!

My Husband!

Okay! So I didn't want to do real work today, so I've spent the morning catching up on the internet and organizing my photos in "My Pictures." What an incredible mess that was and why so many duplicates? I did find some cute things! Perhaps I'll post some! I'll start with cute pictures of my Husband!

Yes! This is my adorable husband in 1989!
When I pulled this picture up he wanted to know why I won't let him grow his hair out! He'd give anything for a mullet and a goatee!

This is a picture of him in 1974! He worked for Champion Muffler at the time.

Don't you love his clothes!!! He always wore plaid jackets and bow ties back then.
This is my husband in June of 2005! This is the 2nd time we went out. We weren't dating!!

I had taken him to dinner the week before this to pay him for doing some things at my Grandma's house. He told me that night he was going to take me to Fuddrucker's the next Tuesday. I took this picture on my cell phone. I'd never seen anyone eat a 1lb. burger! See long hair and goat!

September 18, 2005

On September 10th he asked me if we were dating. I said, "We're hanging out!" Two days later I asked him what he called it and he said, "Courting!" This is a picture of us at my sister's house the day after I threw caution to the wind and decided to get involved!
This is us about 3 weeks later at my nieces' wedding. He still has a goat!

This is Christmas 2005! Just a "stache!"

May 20, 2006

The day Eddie took out his endowments at the San Diego Temple.

No "stache!"

Our Wedding day! He's so cute!!!!

Chad and Melanie's Wedding

Chad & Melanie Gray
We were fortunate enough to be in town for Eddie's cousin Melanie's wedding reception!
It was the greatest! The reception was at the Sun River Gardens! It's a Nursery!
What a great idea!!! Think of the $$ they saved in decorations! It was beautful!
The food was great! The string quartet played beautifully. The bride and groom were deliriously happy. The cakes! Oh my the cakes! The traditional wedding cake was a replica of the Bride's gown. It was so cool! The Groom's cake.....A Cheeseburger with French Fries!!!
Besides the delicious salad, mashed potatos, chicken and beef...there was a crepe bar!
My favorite though.....the punch luge!!!!
And the punch was de-li-cious!!!!!!!!
Highlight of the evening: Visiting with family of course!!!
An excellent evening!

Angela Johnson's Sculptures

WOW!
On Sunday, Julie took us to the St. George Visitor Center to see the exhibit,
"The Healing Power of Jesus Christ."
The most awesome sculptures by Angela Johnson.
Here are some of my favorites:

I love the suspension on this one!!!

The exhibit will travel to the Oakland CA Visitor Center next and they will be traveling to other Visitor Centers as well. I hope they make it to Los Angeles soon!

They are fantastic!
